Production Supervisor

About the Role

On-site shift leadership role at our Newmarket, United Kingdom manufacturing site. You will lead a team of operators across a rotating shift, deliver on the production plan, and drive a strong safety and quality culture on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 8–12 production operators across a 12-hour rotating shift pattern
  • Deliver the daily and weekly production schedule while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Conduct shift handovers, daily tier meetings, and pre-shift safety briefings
  • Investigate near misses, deviations, and quality events; drive corrective actions to closure
  • Coach operators on SOPs, safe work practices, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate with maintenance, QC, and planning teams to resolve issues in real time
  • Manage holiday and absence cover; support recruitment and onboarding of new operators

Requirements

  • A-levels or equivalent; HNC/HND in a science or engineering discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing, including 2+ years in a team-leader or supervisory role
  • Working knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, and UK process safety frameworks
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills; able to hold a team to high standards
  • Comfortable with rotating shift patterns including nights and weekends
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom (no visa sponsorship available)

Preferred Qualifications

  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Experience with reactive chemistry or boron / hydride product lines
  • Lean / Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt
  • Familiarity with SAP PM or similar maintenance / production systems
